While summer may be coming to an end in New England, there are plenty of ways to enjoy fall in Nantucket. The first days of the autumn season are often the most beautiful. As the temperatures cool and the colors begin to change, Nantucket’s vibrant landscape transforms into a fall wonderland. Visitors looking to enjoy the season can expect a calmer island compared to the summer months, plus a variety of community events in the weeks to come.

Labor Day: September 4, 2023

The holiday weekend is here! Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial send-off to summer. Take this time as an opportunity to engage in all your favorite warm-weather activities before the seasons change. Backyard BBQs, afternoons at the beach, and waterside dining are a few of the best ways to enjoy the season’s final chapter.

Sankaty Swing: September 11, 2023

Sankaty Head Golf Club will host Sankaty Swing, an event benefiting Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Although the event sells out early, you can still join the waitlist. Attendees of the fundraiser will have access to the driving range and putting green prior to tee time. Additionally, you will enjoy a BBQ luncheon, a welcome gift, and an awards ceremony with cocktails and light bites.

Cross Island Hike: September 23, 2023

If you love the great outdoors, the Cross Island Hike is right up your alley. Kicking off at Sesachacha Pond, this scenic hike contains various routes along the way crossing through trails, bike paths, and roadways. People of all fitness levels are encouraged to participate, as there are alternate routes available. You will be able to customize your day based on your personal skill level. With water stations at each checkpoint, the Land Bank staff advises participants to bring a refillable water bottle and lunch.

The Nantucket Project: October 5-8, 2023

This annual event brings together thought leaders from various industries including finance, tech, and the arts. With attendees from around the country, the Nantucket Project aims to create a welcoming environment to encourage courageous dialogue, with the ultimate goal to inspire positive change and unity. You can register for this event directly on their website.

As the island’s busy summer season winds down, Nantucket continues to attract visitors from all over. With community events and fundraisers, there’s an array of exciting events that await, inviting people from all over to enjoy fall in Nantucket.
